Some of the Amazing Matches on Day 1

  • Top 16 Group Stage - Double Elimination Bo3

Nov. 1st Opening Match, Group A: Taiwanese Zerg Player Has vs. Korean legendary Terran Flash

The first round they had the map Catallena LE and the second round Overgrowth LE. As much as Has intended to surprise Flash with some unexpected strategies, Flash apparently knew his opponent quite well and was far more experienced and skillful. Showing his unrivaled strength, Flash defeated Has with a quick 2-0 victory.

Nov. 1st Group C: Korean Terran Player YoDa vs. Taiwanese Zerg Player Sen

The first battle began on Catallena LE. YoDa first started with some powerful attacks that put Sen in a disfavored position. Later, to his fans’ relief, Sen managed to turn around the situation. The competitive game went back and forth for a while until Sen lost his fourth base. With a stronger economy over Sen, YoDa dominated the game and soon won the first round. The second map was Nimbus LE. YoDa made a quick attack with Zergling rush. Without Banelings to defend himself and totally unprepared for YoDa’s new tactics, Sen unfortunately suffered his second loss in a fast-paced second round that lasted only 9 minutes and 43 seconds. In this BO3 group stage, YoDa bested Sen 2-0 in a quick victory.

  • Top 8 - Single Elimination Bo3 (A1 vs D2 、B1 vs C2、A2 vs D1、B2 vs C1)

Nov. 1st B2 vs C1: Korean Terran Player YoDa vs. Taiwanese Zerg Player Ian

After beating Sen and First in RO16 group stage, YoDa made his way to RO8. This time around, he faced Ian, the only Taiwanese player who made it to the RO8. The first battle started on King Sejong Station LE. As we can see, YoDa has been a stable player with consistent performance while Ian battles in a discreet and cautious manner. Both displayed excellent skills in attack and defense. There was even a moment when they both adopted air attacks. Despite Ian’s remarkable and perfect defense in the first round, he fell victim to YoDa’s fierce attack and eventually lost the game. The second map Merry Go Round LE seemed to be in YoDa’s favor as he looked quite experienced with this map. With perfect defense and outstanding attack, YoDa once again defeated Ian and grabbed his chance to RO4.
